These apartments are located in a predominantly single family residential neighborhood, which is also very convenient for Iowa State University students. The building is designed to moderate its relative size to the surroundings through the use of materials, massing gestures and roof forms. The architecture is broken into a classical arrangement consisting of a base, middle and cap. Several materials were utilized to reinforce this, architectural stone defining the base, unit masonry comprising the middle, and horizontal metal lap siding at the top. Dominate roof overhangs, architectural asphalt shingles, double hung windows, and historically inspired details were used to moderate the scale and context.
