This Stanton Street apartment building is a six-story structure with ten apartment units on each floor and includes a below grade parking level. The developer desired a low maintenance exterior and maximum interior flexibility. The building is sited in an area zoned for high-density multi-family housing. The goal was to maximize the real estate’s best use, while mediating the scale of the building within its context. The tight budget did not allow for massing gestures to reduce the scale, so the materials and placement of windows was key to creating a visual break in the elevation’s mass. Thoughtful landscaping was used to soften the base of the building, and enhance the street savvy.
